Untalented (that's Story 1 for the uninitiated) is going through a critique pass with a great YA crit group someone recommended to me. While that's happening, and while I wait for the next spate of rejections from agents, I've decided to start on the next novel.
Could I do more work on Untalented? Yes. Is it good enough? I don't know if it will ever be. I did a major edit just before joining the critique group, so I've decided to accumulate crits and deal with all the feedback in one big lump when I'm ready. At the moment, however, I've spent over a year editing and revising and editing... again. I've finally reached the point where I don't want to look at the book. In a month or two I'll probably be able to look at it objectively again. But I need a break.
Which means it's time. Time to get the creative juices flowing again. Time to stop nit-picking. Time to start a new story. To that end, please welcome Story 2 - Untitled, as a new category on this blog.
The current status of Story 2 is "being outlined". Like Untalented, it is also a fantasy. But it may not be young adult. We'll see.
