A Confederation of Valor, by Tanya Huff
Two military SF novels in one! My only nit is that I wish Staff Sergeant Torin Kerr weren't quite so hyper-competent all the time. It almost isn't fair for everyone else.
Dead Until Dark, by Charlaine Harris
Thought I'd check out the latest vampire craze. 'Cuz, you know: vampires! Interesting world setup with vampires out of the closet but not quite, uh, integrated. I figured out whodunit and Sam's little secret quite early though, so not sure if I'll pick up the other books or just rent True Blood.
The Flying Troutmans, by Miriam Toews
Darkly funny, and at the same time harrowing look at living in a family overshadowed by mental illness. I love Miriam Toews. You should read her too.
Naked, by David Sedaris
Quirky memoir.
