I picked this up thinking, "Oh, I loved this when I was a teen; time for a re-read". And as I read, I realized, "Wait a minute. This isn't the book I'm thinking of. I've never read this." But I loved it anyway. Seminal. And I believe the book I was originally thinking of was The Integral Trees, which means I guess I've got a re-read coming...
