Whee! Even though I have the head cold from hell, I feel energized.
I just got back from Surrey International Writers' Conference, where my batting average for agent/editor pitches for Untalented went from 0.000 last year, to 0.750 this year. Not bad. Of course, this is just for "first base", or requests for partials.
But hey, I'll take it.
I got to meet several people I've only conversed with online through my writers' group. And made new friends. Learned a few good things. All in all, a successful weekend.
I haven't written much about my actual writing lately. Now that the fourth round of edits for Untalented is pretty much done, I'll be focusing on my new work. I'll blog a bit more about that over the next months. And no, I'm not telling what it's about yet. That comes after I've finished my first draft. Although I did run a very short teaser hook past a couple of people at Surrey. And learned that this work seems eminently more pitchable than Untalented. Which is also energizing in a different way.
Back to work! Yes, that's me whistling... :-)
