Let's Pretend This Never Happened, by Jenny Lawson
I can't read the words "Knock, knock..." anymore without snickering and thinking of Jenny Lawson. A hilarious celebration of being a little off kilter.
Redshirts, by John Scalzi
While I didn't get the pun, I did "get" the book. Metatastically meta, and then when you think it can't get any more meta, it does. Not only is this book highly accessible to people who wouldn't normally read science fiction, I also recommend it to writers trying to improve their own work. While it's a work of fiction, it's also a not-so-subtly disguised book on the craft of writing.
Wonder, by Robert J. Sawyer
The Sacred Band, by David Anthony Durham
Highly satisfying conclusion to this series, which never really went in the directions I expected it to, which is what made it great.
Thanks Katrina! Very glad to hear you enjoyed the series.
Thanks for popping by, David. I can only aspire to write as well as you do. :-)
