Stardust, by Neil Gaiman
I've seen the movie (more than once), and thought it was high time I read the original. Very interesting to contrast the Hollywood-ization of the story. They're both enjoyable, but in very different ways. The book's tone is both substantially gentler and yet edgier at the same time.
